FFC Approach: Promote livelihood through economic empowerment and household nutrition using climate-adaptive approaches. This begins by instilling values of appreciating nature and the environment early in life.

Context:
  • Youth (aged 18-30) not in employment, education, or training (NEET) in Rwenzori Sub Region:0% (UBoS 2024)
  • Youth NEET in Kasese District:90,034
  • Youth NEET in Bukonzo County:42,839 (almost half of district total)


    Economic Empowerment

    • Establish income-generating projects or collaborate with existing VSLAs /organizations.
    • Integrate better parenting practices with livelihood stability through backyard/kitchen gardening.
  • Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs):Training on financial literacy for sustainability.
  • Parenting support groups supported to establish group income generation projects.

Key finding (FFC 2025 Needs Assessment): Poverty propels child neglect and sexual violence against children.

Household Nutrition: Kitchen Gardens

  • Trained:144 children in establishing kitchen gardens
  • Partner:Uganda Institute for Organic Farming
  • Benefits:Improves household nutrition and early childhood development
